Formed in a small town just outside Glasgow by schoolfriends Simon Neil (guitar, vocals) and twins Ben (drums, vocals) and James Johnston (drums, vocals), Biffy Clyro came together in the mid 1990s.

Inspired by a number of underground rock bands and the more regonised styles of bands like Guns N’Roses and Metallica, Biffy Clyro’s unique, unpredictable and passionate guitar heavy sound earned them a loyal and devoted fanbase long before they achieved any great commercial success.

Their first three albums arrived in a whirlwind three years of productivity for the Kilmarnock trio – ‘Blackened Sky’ (2002), ‘The Vertigo Of Bliss’ (2003) and ‘Infinity Land’ (2004) – but it wasn’t until 2007 and their first album on a major label that the boys hit the big time.

‘Puzzle’ sold more than a quarter of a million copies and led to Biffy Clyro gigging with the likes of U2 and the Rolling Stones, playing sold out gigs at Wembley Stadium with Muse and headlining in front of a hometown Glasgow SECC crowd.

The brilliance of tracks such as ‘The Captain’, ‘Born On A Horse’, ‘Mountains’ and ‘That Golden Rule’ on Biffy Clyro’s superb fifth album ‘Only Revolutions’ (2009) has only served to cement their reputation as one of Scotland’s most talented musical exports.

In true rock style, the lads jetted out to LA to record ‘Only Revolutions’, the title of which was inspired by the Mark Danielewski novel House of Leaves according to the band.

For all their famous collaborators and the bands with whom they’ve played live in recent years, Biffy Clyro remain strongly attached to their Ayrshire roots and still practice together on a farmhouse close to where they grew up.
