Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall came into mainstream focus late in 2004 following the release of her debut album Eye to the Telescope in December of that year, with the breakthrough single “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” appearing two months later. The album was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2005.
The momentum gathered for KT throughout 2005 as the singles “Other Side of the World”, “Under the Weather” and “Another Place to Fall” brought further success and with American audiences tuning into her predominantly acoustic guitar led sound. In 2006 she won the Ivor Novello Best Song Musically and Lyrically for the single “Suddenly I See”.
Real name Kate Victoria Tunstall, KT was back with a second album Drastic Fantastic in 2007, released in the summer in the U.S., U.K. and Canada, featuring the single “Hold On”. Additional singles “Saving My Face” and “If Only” were also released but only achieved moderate commercial success.
A highly talented multi-instrumentalist KT Tunstall plays drums, flute and piano, in addition to the guitar, and she guest sang with her fellow Scots Travis on their 2007 album The Boy With No Name, on the track “Under The Moonlight”.
Following the singles “Fade Like a Shadow” and “(Still a) Weirdo”, Tunstall released her third full studio album Tiger Suit in September 2010.
