They’re the band on everyone’s lips at the moment following the reformation of the famous five, and after their UK tour caused a frenzy up and down the country, Take That have now topped the UK album chart with the highest first-week sales for 13 years.
The ‘Progress’, which heavily features the vocals of returning prodigal son, Robbie Williams, sold almost 520,000 copies in the past week – the biggest opening numbers since Oasis’ ‘Be Here Now’ in 1997.
The five-piece blitzed Rihanna’s album ‘Loud’, which entered the charts in 2nd position but miles behind, while in the singles chart their song ‘The Flood’ remains at number two.
It was a successful week all round for boybands after former X Factor contestants JLS shot straight to the top of the singles chart with their Children In Need track Love You More.
Take That tickets sold out in a matter of minutes for the 2011 UK tour but some tickets are still available on secondary ticket sites.
